It’s not often that I’m asked to spend the whole weekend celebrating the marriage of the bride and groom. That I’m invited to share meals together and cook together. To start the day with a long breakfast together and finish it late into the night with dessert and wine in hand. To join the conversation and get to know each friend and family member personally. I spent the entire weekend with Amanda + Charley and their 21 guests at a private villa in the quiet Tuscan countryside. When I arrived, the entire group was off exploring and dining in a local town.
I was greeted by the kindest woman who showed me all around the lush grounds and prepared a whole spread of meat, cheese, bread, and tiramisu just for me. We walked through a quick ceremony rehearsal with the bridal party and Amanda + Charley’s parents while the rest of the guests enjoyed the Italian sunshine and relaxed at the pool. We enjoyed a stone-oven grilled pizza and barbecue dinner complete with warm figs from the grounds and fresh cheese followed up with mouth-watering Gelato.
The next morning, Amanda and the girls stayed at the villa while the guys adventured to a nearby town. We were given an amazingly fun biscotti and pasta lesson by Deborah, the villa’s chef. We spent the wedding afternoon chatting, enjoying our hand made pasta lunch, and relaxing before it was time for Amanda to put on her dress and walk down the aisle. I’ll be sharing all the wedding photos in Part 2 next week.
