I have spent the past few months trying to figure out what I would be working on for my senior BFA project, the last step in getting my photography degree. I’ll be spending the next year on this project so it took me a while to decide on something that I could really dive into. I have decided to photograph the relationship between mothers and their children. This is something really close to my heart, being homeschooled until 8th grade and growing up with my mom as a stay at home mom gave me such appreciation for the importance of our mothers. Although we are planning to wait quite a few years I am so excited at the thought of becoming a mother myself. There is a lot more to it but that’s the concise version. I’m so relieved to not only have found a project I love but that it is this project specifically. I will be photographing mothers and their children of all ages, experiences, and socioeconomic status. If you or someone you know would like to participate please send me an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we can discuss if you may be a good fit for this project.
My first lovely family is my cousin Brooke and her sweet littles. I absolutely loved hanging out with them. Being my first try at this I had no idea how it might turn out but it was so comfortable and natural and I love the images we created. Her babies take such good care of each other and it was so precious watching them interact.
